As President of Stafford Speaking and Consulting, he travels the United States showing companies how to develop effective leaders, create productive teams, and deliver legendary customer service. He consults with companies on communications, business relationships, and customer service/retention, and coaches executives on leadership issues, personal productivity, and personal relationships. Alan has an MBA and an MHA, and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Despite his strong background in healthcare and technology, he speaks to and consults with companies in all industries and sectors. Alan is also a certified coach who mentors other coaches, and is an instructor for a major coaching school.

On the personal side, Alan grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. His family would have been called trailer trash, but they couldn't afford a trailer. The only kid in his neighborhood to graduate from high school, he not only finished college, but went on to accumulate three post-graduate degrees. A multi-sport athlete, Alan later took up coaching, working with adults and children, teams and individuals, in 7 different sports. He later became a business consultant and executive coach, transferring his coaching principles to the business world. Today, more than 90% of Alan's athletes and business clients have achieved PR's (Personal Records or Personal Bests).

Among other dubious achievements however, he has also been a baseball umpire and a soccer referree. A slow learner in some ways, Alan also ran for public office twice (state and federal). The perfection in this-as coaches like to say-is that he now has full understanding of his faults, weaknesses, and deficiencies courtesy of his athletic and political opponents. Since it would be difficult to insult him in new and unique ways, Alan has the gift of being able to focus totally on the client's needs.
